A tea session will be held as a sign of our appreciation to TTH NUS writers, editors and associates who have made our inaugural issue a success. We would also like to invite those who are keen to join TTH NUS to attend this event.

Just head down to the Science Dean's office, level 9, S16 building in Science. The Triple Helix mailbox is located beside the receptionist's desk in the dean's office.
Copies of the journal are also available in the major offices in the engineering faculty.
Have fun reading the articles published by 30 leading universities from all over the world. Articles by our very own NUS undergraduates are featured in the journal as well.

We regret to announce that due to unforeseen technical problems on the part of TTH Inc’s Production Team over in the USA, the launch of our inaugural issue will be deferred. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the writers for their contribution of articles. Welcome onboard, Professor Andrew Wee!

We are pleased to announce that Professor Andrew T S Wee, who has just been appointed Dean of the Faculty of Science, is now our new Resident Faculty Advisor. As a Professor from the Department of Physics, Professor Wee also holds various prestigious appointments, notably, President and Fellow of Institute of Physics Singapore (IPS) as well as Fellow of the Institute of Physics, UK (IoP). His research appointments are equally impressive. He is not only the Director of the Surface Science Lab in NUS but also the Co-Director of the NUS Nanoscience & Nanotechnology Initiative (NUSNNI). Besides, Prof Wee is also the Senior Faculty Member of the NUS Graduate School for Integrative Sciences and Engineering (NGS) and an Adjunct Scientist at the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE). Professor Wee has extensive editorial experience and is currently on the editorial board of numerous scientific publications like Int. J. Nanoscience, Surf. Interface Anal, Surf. Rev. Lett., and Current Nanoscience.
With Professor Wee at the helm, TTH NUS Chapter will definitely reach greater heights this coming annual year.

TTH NUS Chapter would like to congratulate Professor Tan Eng Chye on his recent appointment as the Deputy President (Academic Affairs) and Provost of NUS. Due to this new appointment, Professor Tan has taken his leave from TTH NUS Chapter effective 01 April 2007. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Professor Tan Eng Chye for his guidance during his term as our Resident Faculty Advisor. We are pleased to announce that our first literary cycle is nearing the end, thanks to the hard work and dedication put in by all staff, especially our Literary Board, and not forgetting the Advisory Board.
Our debut publication was conceptualized and produced via a rigorous process in which the Writers and Editors worked together to ensure that the most insightful and thought-provoking articles are written to whet undergraduates’ intellectual appetite.

Professor Elliot’s research interests include social, cognitive and motor development, various areas of cognitive psychology especially short-term memory and evolutionary psychology as well as a number of applied interests i.e industrial safety and the applications of psychology in the Police Force.
New TTH Chapter at Hong Kong University

TTH Asia’s Chief Operating Officer, our very own Chapter President, John Kerk has successfully initiated the establishment of a new Chapter at Hong Kong University (HKU). The Chapter at HKU will be headed by Chan Hei Ching, who is pursuing a double degree in Law and Civil Engineering. The HKU chapter is the second one to be established in Asia after the NUS Chapter. We look forward to the setting up of more chapters in Asia!

Mr N. Sivasothi from the Department of Biological Sciences to the Advisory Board. Mr N. Sivasothi is a research officer at the Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research. He works on Asian otters and mangroves in Southeast Asia. His museum work involves him in education, database, research, expedition and local and regional conservation projects.
First Literary Board Meeting

The first meeting of the Literary Board was held on 02 November 2006. Writers and Editors got to know each other and got down to business; discussing their proposed articles for the inaugural issue of the journal. Members were also briefed by the Editor-In-Chief on the Literary Cycle as well as the working style of the Literary Board.

TTH NUS Chapter welcomes A/P Nuyen Anh Tuan into the Advisory board. A/P Nuyen Anh Tuan is from the Department of Philosophy and also teaches philosophy modules in the University Scholars’ Programme. His main research interests are: Ethics and applied ethics, the philosophy of Hume and Kant, Continental philosophy and comparative (Chinese/Western) philosophy.

The First General Meeting was held on 14 October 2006 The newly recruited Associate and Literary Board members were introduced to the structure and workings of TTH Inc as well as the TTH NUS Chapter. Members were also briefed on their respective job scopes and met with senior board members to discuss departmental matters
Recruitment Drive

We have officially ended our first recruitment drive and the response has been overwhelming. 33 new members have joined the Chapter. We still welcome committed undergraduates to join us as Writers and Editors. Undergraduates who are passionate about writing for the chapter are encouraged to apply during the next round of recruitment, beginning early February 2007.

Yet another faculty from the University Scholars’ Programme (USP) has kindly agreed to be in the Advisory Board. We welcome Dr Donald Favareau from the USP. Dr Don (as he prefers to be addressed) teaches the USP Writing and Critical Thinking module UWC2101R Multidisciplinary Perspectives of ‘Mind’ as well as the highly popular module ULS2205 Biosemiotics: Signs in Nature. A linguist and philosopher by training, his main area of interest is in the emerging interdiscipline of biosemiotics; the study of sign processes and their role in biological organization.

First Executive Board Meeting of TTH NUS Chapter

On 6 May 2006, the President called for the first Executive Board Meeting. The executives got to know one another, taking a step closer to fostering a strong team spirit and bond. During the meeting, the executives were oriented on the mode of operation and working style of TTH NUS Chapter. The history, role and current status of TTH Inc were also introduced to the executives.The meeting was a great success and promises to push this new student-run body to a new pinnacle.
Congratulations to Our President on His Appointment as COO Asia

We at TTH NUS Chapter are pleased to announce that our President, John Kerk, has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer, Asia (COO Asia) of TTH Inc. This is a compliment not just to him, but to the NUS student community as well as the task of overseeing TTH’s expansion in Asia has been entrusted to an NUS representative. TTH Asia will be approaching top universities in China, Japan and Korea to found new chapters.
Establishment of the Executive Board

The first Executive Board of TTH NUS Chapter was officially formed on 27 June 2006. Being a fledgling organization, members in the Executive Board vowed to keep the chapter in full momentum.
The Executive Board is headed by the President, John Kerk. He is responsible for managing university-related affairs, acting as the representative in external interactions within the university and local community as well as directing all operations within the chapter. The Editor-in-Chief, Lim Shimin Gwynne, heads the Literary Board and is responsible for coordinating the article writing and editing process.
The Executive Board seeks to maintain a healthy pool of executives from different faculties in order to create diversity among the team players. Under the wings of the Executive Board is a legion of undergraduates from the faculty/school of Arts and Social Sciences, Business, Engineering, Law and Science. Let us wish our Executive Board all the best in working towards this goal.
Dean of FoS appointed as TTH NUS Chapter’s RFA

Estalishment of TTH NUS Chapter approved by OSA

We are happy to announce that the NUS Office of Student Affairs (OSA), has approved our establishment as a student publication entity in NUS. There is however a two year probation period before we can register ourselves with the Registrar of Societies (RoS), pending which we will have to establish our presence and influence in NUS.
